you have raised a good point about one bad year (actually it was a bloody terrible year).
at this stage of the cycle l have a preference for international LIC' employing shorts or with solid cash reserves. if the bull market continues l would expect the LIC to underperform the index, otherwise l am going to need to look at reducing as with the index funds.
also there is no way managed ETFs using covered call strategies will beat the index during a bull market.
people need to relax a little my bet is most retail investors are still a good 10% over the Au index since last March, however after MFG it will now shave a percent off if it falls by another 30%+ look at the total movement not individual holdings
