BHP and Tesla only signed a deal to work together in a nutshell.
It was not material to BHP as Nickel West is in operation and this deal can be Zero to whatever and it doesnt change what BHP charges for nickel nor the operations as it stands.
Even if....
- BHP meets the specification Tesla is not bound to buy
- Tesla can still buy even if BHP wont invest to meet specification
Had Tesla signed to buy significant tons or BHP needed to expand to cater for Tesla deal it would be material.
Conversely had BHP made an announcement and flagged it is Price Sensitive... It would be inviting a "Please Explain" from ASX
