Only ask as I've not been involved in a special dividend to date. On one hand one would hope it applies to only existing(long suffering) holders prior to the announcement but that may not be the case. If the ex date is some time in the future it would certainly push up the SP, but only on a temporary basis.
I've had a varying holding since RIA days, so a long time coming!
Anyway all speculation until Wednesday.
