They could certainly of held off on a CR but they are running fairly close to the wire, particularly as they are hoping to grow.
My guess is that after the recent price jump, the company decided to take risk off the table by raising capital when the going was good, rather than potentially being forced to raise capital later on when the share price is depressed.
I think this is management just being prudent rather than being tied to sales opportunities.
