These short attacks crop up occasionally in biotech in the US. There are several firms who specialise in the unscrupulous practice and I have seen/experienced several of them in the past - Scorpion Capital is another serial offender.
You can identify them by the unprofessional sounding emotive rhetoric they use and the biased if not outright inaccurate data they present. They can cause short term damage to the SP (which is the aim of the whole exercise as they establish short positions prior to the release of the report), but in the end fundamental truth will out.
