You could be right that it is something more.. the NZX halt as well changes things a bit.
If it is an announcement along the lines you suggested it does imply either a) the news leaked beforehand or b) it coincidentally is being announced the same time as a lot of China focused stocks are rallying.
A2M usually announce those kind of things before market open though.
