I like this acquisition. A lot.

The big question right from the TGA approval was how do they manage the duty of care to patients when administering psychedelics, its not like they could just give you a dose, you do a session with a trained therapist, and then drive yourself home.

I spent a number of weeks admitted to a clinic for PTSD where they give you a few days to decompress before several psychiatrist appointments in house each week, along with meds, group therapies and other treatments and then you are treated as an outpatient once the "crisis" is managed.

I imagined that the psychedelic programs would run in a similar way to manage the care of the patient before, during and after therapy and this announcement brings that to fruition. As far as I am aware this is the only model that covers off on this in Australia.

Whilst it is likely to be expensive, as a person working towards remission for PTSD, you don't worry too much about the costs in the moments of crisis. And whilst Australia has leapfrogged the developed world in such treatments now on the table, you could imagine Australia becoming something of a destination for those looking for treatment with an accredited provider.

This is great news for the company, shareholders and sufferers suited to this type of therapy. Well done Emyria.
