    This is unlikely to cause any issues, particularly in the case of Matt Tripp, who has a history of eye-rolling at such fines. He is basically on record that he was aware the 101-odds promotion was breaching NSW promotion laws just days into launching Betr, but proceeded regardless because the fines are negligible in comparison to the market share gained.

    ACMA’s announcement on PointsBet’s breach, it appears the incident occurred shortly after the BetStop system went live (August 2023) and was the result of both system and human error. Not really surprising, given the extremely poor implementation of BetStop from the ground up. The system does operate on a "pull" rather than a "push" model in the legislation, and sectors such as lotteries, casinos, and clubs are exempt from its requirements, which makes zero common sense given that's the majority of gambling spend in Australia.

    A screwup for sure, but likely long fixed, and a business-as-usual response if Tipp has seen it.
