Just a short dead end or widening of an existing tunnel or underground drive, just an example I plucked out at random, often used to store or keep things underground without blocking vehicle access to the main decline/tunnel or drive.
Most mines have systems of describing drives by their vertical level and their horizontal position and purpose. Makes planning and communication easier.
