I'm sure also that the hole isn't a complete 'duster'. Hole would have been cased to keep it intact for any geophysical probes and/or re-entering for a drilling extension.

Agree also. They were either encountering good alteration and simply kept drilling hoping for mineralisation. OR the rocks they were encountering didn't explain the geophysical anomalies and were simply drilling deeper to encounter it. Now that they have better knowledge of the local basement rocks they'll rejig their geophysical modelling and either drill deeper or step off to one side for a shot at the readjusted target.
