That is the problem isn't it, when does selling finish? We will not recognise the bottom when we reach it. Or, we may have reached it already. How would we know?
My investing improved when I stopped over obsessing about the bottom. The important thing is to buy at a good price- if that happens to be somewhere near the bottom then good- but it does not have to be to eventually make a profit. That said, I hate buying and then seeing the SP continue to fall- but have learned that holding a falling stock is usually not fatal,
The thing that I really hate is waiting too long and missing out completely- no profit to be made there.
Most listed mining contractors had near death experiences about a decade ago and struggled for several years thereafter. The survivors learned and have implemented good plans since.
West African risk worries me somewhat- but if you look at past financials they do manage the risk well and make a pretty good profit on it.
