Ahhhhh, Mkr, there is another person following QBE on HC.
Three moving parts in this announcement:
1. Premiums have been lifted again, this time broadly in line with inflation. So prior rises have been retained without loss of customers.
2. Catastrophe provisions are higher. I foresee higher provisions and difficult experiences ahead from drought, fire and floods. While individuals can hold divergent opinions about climate change, insurers have to deal with actuals.
3. Higher interest rates are already feeding into QBE's bond ladder, with more gains ahead.
On balance, I see this announcement as a strong positive. Whether Mr Market shares my opinion is another matter.
