    Maskinonge Lake

After taking several actions to reduce external phosphorus inputs into Lake Maskinongé, the City of Mont-Tremblant has initiated the process of requesting certificates of authorization from the Ministry of the Environment and the Fight against Climate Change, Wildlife and Parks in order to obtain authorization to carry out a treatment with Phoslock to block phosphorus inputs from sediments at the bottom of the lake.

Since the Department's Fauna sector requested more information, the City awarded a contract to Groupe Hemisphere inc. to carry out environmental wildlife monitoring in the amount of $26,954 and a fish habitat restoration plan as part of the physico-chemical restoration project for Lake Maskinongé in the amount of $8,680.

“We continue to move forward, but it is important that everyone understands that we will not be able to intervene and carry out the treatment as long as there remain residents who do not comply with the Plan of the riparian strips and their septic tanks,” declared Deputy Mayor Dominique Laverdure. “When everyone is compliant, we will be able to proceed with the Phoslock treatment and try to save our magnificent Maskinongé Lake. »

She also reminded that residents have access to a financial support program from the City of Mont-Tremblant to make their wastewater treatment system compliant.

    Lake Tremblant

The council adopted a resolution to inform the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forests of their concern regarding a forestry site named Hermione planned in the watershed of Lac Tremblant. Since this lake is the city's source of drinking water, the city would like the ministry to withdraw the planning for this project pending the results of a study on the impact of forestry operations on watercourses, which will be carried out by Université Laval.

The City considers that the Hermione construction site as currently planned does not respect the vision of protecting natural environments desired by the community by authorizing cutting in wetlands.
