@Nutsy there is no "one" answer to your question however it is very clear that the analogue world (human world) and the nexus between humans and compute needs analogue (interfacing and compute) to the central compute Digital processing. The below video shows the power needed for level 3&4 autonomous driving with the analogue input (sensors) needing to feed the central Nvidia GPUs. All the sensors would be improved by analogue compute as an input to the Digital GPUs. Humans are effectively the analogue compute (driver) that already informs the many onboard compute systems which are now being supercharged (digitally) by the exemplars within this video. Within the GPU itself, 4DS tech will enhance/improve the time/power issues experienced by physical silicon limitations and heat generation.
There are many "new" videos available that makes connections between Analogue and Digital and their new relationship. 4DS, as inferred in the 2023 release bridges this gap.
The opportunities for the next step change in this tech are with 4DS at both 60nm (imo) and much improved and to be tested at 20 nm. I don't think anyone really knows what the performance specs will be at 20nm which is the very exciting (cant sleep at night dave) opportunity.
