Bear in mind Melbourne, not Sydney, is the 'auction capital' of Australia.
IIRC, only 30 per cent of homes in Melbourne (pre-COVID) were sold by auction so in other capitals, and especially in rural cities and towns, the percentage will be lower. Media has a tendency to report 'outlier' results given that News Corporation (REA) and NEC (DHG) are important companies in their own right, and benefit if potential vendors can be convinced to place properties on the market.
