"........... Quick question from a newb to the whole 'drugs that aren't on the PBS' - how do patients afford a $150K a year treatment?................"

Howdy LTS's - Think you have pretty much answered your own question. People often suggest the likes of PAA should just develop their product and take it to market themselves, then others come in and respond it is only BP who have the marketing ability and sales channels to get the doctors to prescribe that drug. A key factor most often left out of that response is that it is the BP's who have already build the lobby channels to government to ensure the drug gets on to the equivalent of our PBS so that patients are not required to pay the often hundreds of thousands of dollars treatment cost. Simple economics suggests if it has taken hundreds of millions and often more to develop a drug the holder is going to want to recover that money through profitable revenue streams and that includes paying for those products that do not make it to market. Is that process and outcome all fair and reasonable... well suggest that is a whole other argument other than to add I dont see many here (very much me included) suggesting we should lower the share price in order to minimize the cost of MPL.
