To circle back to the question again, one could call Rapamycin an antibiotic, while MPL is (was) an Antihelminitic ("anti worm")
So for us layfolk, the above distinction suggests that they are very different in what they do, even if there is a similarity in the way that they do it (per Mtor 1, 2)
