dont think it will be a takeover. trade sale of a stake is much easier as they only have pre- emptive rights to deal with. that agreement is for p398 only, 314 & 315 are not on line ( assume they would similar ) 398 was awarded after the original farmin . thankfully cop/ kar were succesful as most of the field is in 398.
$300m sale price is a fantasy. no way will it be that low. if it was, i would be joining black swan in his journey to mt martha with a torch and a pitchfork.
my thoughts were $700m for 30% , maybe with some milestone payments / carry on balance of fid program. STO would be very keen to get a seat at the able here ( so would a few others as well ) . dont think they are only negotiating with only 1 party.
as far as spin off, sure it would be possible, but there would be a myriad of tax issues . any brazil / peru tax experts in the house ?
bottom line, none of us know , however besides the grace debarcle, every deal these guys have done has been good. lets hope they are back on their game and bag a winner.
