They aren't alone in this, there are a bunch of companies doing the same thing. It is a race that eventually will be won, but no guarantees on who the winner will be.
I still think cancer is devious enough to survive, so a cure I think is pie in the sky. Combination therapies to beat cancer, and the licensing $$$ they will make, will be huge. That is the more likely outcome here.
