Depending on how good the shows are an Operator can still make the call to test it or P&A it which is what APA r doing here. So PS#1 is basically a discovery that needs 2b appraised in the future.They should have all the relevant data to crunch the numbers for now from PS#1.

8% porosity was the reason why BP left P#1 as a tight gas discovery. They didn't take any insitu fluid samples frm these sands & relied on the mudlog gas readings (which had traces upto C5) & the geo's sample descriptions. W/L logs were good. Watercut was pretty low 45-55% & the sands stood out clearly on the WL logs. However, it was the 8% porosity that was the kicker for them & lack of any insitu samples, that was in 1980. We live in a different era where there's more emphasis on data collection by the Operator/Authorities so that in the event of the permit being relinquished the necessary bits of info r passed on to the new awardee. IMO its a good call to P&A & move onto the nxt well 20kms away.

Roc-1 should b interesting should b a shallow drill. IMO by week-1 in October they should b at the interesting section of Roc-1, where the sands should b thicker & more porous.

Only issue is will they b water wet (like the entire section at K#1 65kms to the east) or HC bearing since its a separate structure? Time will tell. It's an interesting prospect that has 2b drilled, & if they r under budget minus any dramas ie cyclone evacs/fishing/sidetracking/rig issues etc, they could perhaps flowtest those sands at Roc-1, will just have to drill first to find out what they hold.
