liquidity is the first casualty in situations like these. The buyers dry up some of the sellers (for whatever reason) decide they must sell. Prices fall accordingly. As you point out, not an issue if you can rise out the storm. Even if news is good it may not give much support to the share price (check out RAP today for an example of that). If there was news from the arbitration (big payout), you may also find that the market does not price it correctly. Good time to have some spare cash lying around. DYOR
