I don't have a link for the doubling of the plant. A top 20 holder I was speaking to recently reminded me of it and I do recall seeing it previously but I don't remember where. Maybe someone else can post a reference to it.

Lack of education of the current generation of small farm holders, which account the vast majority of Angola's arable farmland, as well as affordability issues for those small farmers have left Angola's farmland very much phosphate depleted. If affordability is an issue and MNB's product works well over a period of up to 4 years as shown in field trials, versus more like one year for traditional water soluble fertilisers and MNB's product is much cheaper, which product are the small farm holders likely to chose? They haven't been using much imported water soluble fertilisers in the recent past and they will be able to buy MNB's product on a loan to be repaid from profits from produce sold to Carrinho. It seems likely that MNB will have a very captive market for the vast majority of arable land.

The potential for very large growth in Angola's agricultural sector can be seen from its historic productivity prior to the 1975 civil war. It was not only self sufficient but also a large exporter. It currently is not even close to self sufficient and the government as well as international aid agencies want to change that.
