Depleting and selling precious raw resources to another country and then repurchasing manufactured goods from the same country you sold it to is somewhat short sighted. By using those resources and value adding by producing goods in-house and then onsell by exporting or in-house surely would bolster a country's balance sheet and hence wealth - not just monetary terms but human terms (job creation and retention, skills development, flow on effects, increased tax revenue etc). (Hard to beat a good home cooked meal).

Quebec's 'cradle to the grave' approach in the lithium space will do wonders to Canada and Canadians. Lead by example and hopefully others will follow.
