You and @kchil miss the point.
Ms. Harris is of the same political persuasion as Lula and the mighty orange one thinks he’s a master deal maker, and both of them have an incentive to separate the “B” from the BRICS. Both will want to appear to be beating China at their own game, giving them both even more incentive to make an FTA happen.
The potential wrench in the works is Lula, but can he look at the potential greenbacks and say “no?”
We’ll see, and as I mentioned, there’s always the EU, which is currently working on an FTA with Mercosur, of which Brazil is the largest member.
