I think the best comparisons for the EMU will be with Point of Care Ultrasound (POCUS) machines and ECG machines. The use of ultrasound by ‘shop floor’ doctors has exploded over the last 10yrs. This has been facilitated by the advent of portable ultrasound machines (like a big laptop on wheels) that reside on wards, in operating theatres and emergency departments. These can cost roughly anywhere from $20,000-$100,000 and bigger EDs often have several of them. These scanners are often used in addition to formal US scans by sonographers. I think its likely that the EMV devices will find a home along side the USS machine as a quick portable point of care scan that doesn’t need specialist technicians to operate (always a bottle neck to accessing both formal US and CT/MRI- esp after hours). Again in bigger hospitals it would not be outrageous to have machines in different departments or wards or floors.

Similarly the ECG market is ever expanding. I think this too is a good comparison as it is also a single system device (as compared to Ultrasound machines which are very versatile and have a myriad of uses across the whole hospital). Obviously cheaper but ubiquitous across all hospital departments and medical centres
