I’m guessing, from the speed with which these deals have been done, the Qataris got the price they were looking for. I suspect that it’s well north of the equivalent current TTF and UK NBP. Happy days. It should basically underwrite the UK price at these level £1.30/ therm for the next 27 years…
“In the space of two weeks, state-owned QatarEnergy has announced deals with TotalEnergies, Shell and Eni to supply France, the Netherlands and Italy with millions of tonnes of LNG from 2026 onwards.
The contracts are massive. The deals with France and the Netherlands will last for 27 years, while the agreement with Italy will last for 26 years.
Qatar will ship 3.5m tonnes of liquid gas to France each year, equivalent to nearly 14pc of the country’s total imports of the fuel in 2022.”
