Why 4000 bod ? ... surely with each additional well will add...

Why 4000 bod ? ... surely with each additional well will add extra barrels to the bottom line ? ....or are the existing wells declining so quickly that they need to keep drilling more wells just to maintain status quo of 4000 bod ?

Apologies if this a silly question but it makes no sense to me that extra wells doesn't equate to greater production
