wholesale and sophs are for the most part no different to a retailer who does their own research and doesnt mind playing in the area of expertise
To put them on a pedestal above some posters here is a mistake and misleading.
I will use Wilsons as an example who I deal through.
They have quite a number of medtech companies who they have assisted in IPO's and CR's. They pitch the offer to their clients - the sophs and wholesales.
Do you think that each of the companies they have raised funds for has been successful ? Absolutely not. Quite the opposite.
That is why medtech's often have many CR's as the sp languishes or goes down
Another thing, existing large shareholders as a rule dont like seeing their investment diluted. So It is a much better look to me if the existing large shareholders are happy to participate - in this case it appears not.
