Nothing funny about it, if you choose to participate in the SPP there is no cost to receive the option, ergo free of charge.
There is of course the associated exercise cost but only if you choose to convert.
There is also the associated profit if you sell your options, assuming they have value.
And I agree that todays share price may well be the best price, trouble is that we just don't know what the 5 day VWAP is going to be.
I bought some more today.
