Fair points but one of the fundamental problems with these LIC's is that the manager has an incentive to increase the shares on issue. There management fee will increase as the new placement increases the fund size. They don't suffer a penalty if the share price is diluted. Hence, they have an incentive to issue more shares when the market is active like now.
