I don't believe there is a date as such.
My memory is probably shot, but I believe the only requirements were for money to be spent on exploration, drilling by a certain time frame to acquire a percentage of the area/project.
And I guess if MMG find something substantial they would want to acquire as much as possible before the release of any results.
This is just from memory and stand to be corrected by the way.
