Currently yes. Traditionally Cobalt has been used as a component of metal 'superalloys'. Because of temp stability (same reason it is used in batteries) it is typically used in things like gas turbines and jet engines. It's also corrosion proof and strong (low wear). Obviously smaller Li batteries like phones etc would be in current demand numbers.
As I said current market is tiny so EV expansion will be a huge proportionate shift in global demand. Hence the current price move we have seen over the past 3-6 months.
