The reality is that when certain brokers knock on your door offering you money, that offer might be gone next week.

The reason brokers knocked on his door is because they know that the next two weeks will bring SP appreciating news, hence why they were keen to deploy capital now at favourable terms to them - almost guaranteeing profits in the weeks to come.

If they tried to raise after the news and subsequent SP appreciation, brokers wouldn’t see much of an incentive to participate as most of the short term SP appreciation already occured.
