It's not the announcement's that are to good to be true, it's the speculation and commentary that follows them.
Not really...if the company says that certain gems have sold for certain amounts, with the implication that it is a direct comparison to their own stones, but know full well the sale price included diamonds and setting, and that the stone quality was never going to be comparable, then in my view it highly deceptive.
It certainly stoked the fire for the wild valuations.
