Guys, EM and IP is a subject I take quite an interest in.
Do you have any recommended reading I could do?
My understanding of it is that they are measuring two different things.
EM - basically the ability of a "body" to generate a back EMF due to eddy currents in the conductor when exposed to a changing magnetic field. The stronger the conductor the more the back EMF stretches out the EM field decay times leading to the "late" channel responses.
IP - the ability of a "body" to retain an electric charge when exposed to an electric field, basically to act as a capacitor.
I had kinda divided IP response into:
Chargable and resistive - potentially disseminated conductors in non-conductive body
Not chargeable and resistive - pretty much nuthin'
Not chargeable (on small scale) but conductive - interconnected conductors i.e. massive sulphides, matrix/net sulfides, saline ground waters, clays, black shales (do an EM survey to see what shows up late time)
