Overview Solex has acquired the rights to over 4,500 hectares of land in the Macusani District in Puno, Peru.
The Macusani district is the most studied area in southern Peru, IPEN (Peruvian Institute of Nuclear Energy) historical reports from 1983 refer to the areas of Chapi, Corani, Tantamaco, Huiquiza, Calvario, Concha Rumio, Huachanne, Chilcuno, Chacaconiza and the surrounding area to the town of Macusani potentially having in the order of 200,000 tonnes of Uranium carrying ore with average grades from 0.2% to 12% of U3O8 (Bulletin 71 - Peruvian Geological Society - Sept. 1983)
Geology and Mineralization
According to recent reports from the IPEN (Peruvian Institute of Nuclear Energy), the uranium mineralization consists of secondary ore, which has accumulated in the fractures of ignimbrite beds. The fractures, which measure from 1 cm to 10 cm in thickness, assay up to 34% uranium. The most common mineral is metaautunite and weeksite in certain districts and pitchblende in others. The mobile uranium salts have permated the wallrock mostly with the mineral gummite, with assays between 0.1% up to 5% in favourable beds up to 25 meters thick.
A recent field visit into exploration tunnels at the Macusani property identified some of the uranium minerals with a black light, where the metaautunite and weeksite fluoresces bright yellow-green, and channel samples returned assays up to 30% uranium. The uranium mineral gummite fluoresces purple-blue and is seen pervasive throughout the tunnel. Readings of the scintillometer reached its maximum inside the exploration tunnels, which extend 20 meters in thickness and branch over 80 meters.
Of the 19 grab samples taken in several locations at Macusani, 15 samples returned values between 1.5% and 28% uranium averaging 11%. Common uranium minerals on the property include pitchblende, weeksite, gummite, autunite, torbenite, fosforanilite and renardinte.

Exploration at the Macusani property consists of the following:
Air-flown and ground radiometrics Detailed mapping of the uranium occurrences in and around 22 known uranium prospects. Channel sampling of outcrops and inside tunnels. Scout drilling to establish three dimensional reserves of selected targets.
