To me, theres 2 things the Shorters are betting against now. 1 is failure to produce high quality spodume which seems very risky as per previous announcements, some sc6 was achieved. 2, spot price continues to decline which may happen but after listening to an interview with Peter Hannah of fastmarkets, I'm as bullish as ever as he mentions this is natural in a time of volatility and in the journey of such rapid price increase. Zooming out, the price is still 10x from previous pricing.
In short, Short positions are becoming riskier and riskier as things progress this year.
