Mt Francisco turned up good lithium content, however primarily contained within the mineralogy of lepidolite and zinnwaldite as opposed to spodumene. When calcined these minerals release HF gas and are therefore not favoured in traditional "roasting" process routes and the precursor SC6 product. Explains management being a bit squirrelly on this topic. Mt Francisco has now been placed on the back burner, at least over the medium term.
These lithium mica minerals (lepidolite/zinnwaldite/ambylgonite etc) can be very successfully liberated through hyromettalurgy processes. But that is a developing space...
In time Mt Francisco could be a very valuable tenement for us.
