This JV was priced in a while ago but was still expecting some kind of lift today. If the market is worried about the cost involved, well it's new technology so there was always going to be some costs.
But think the about the profile of Calix's partners now...leaders of industry scrambling to make CXLs technology work for them. Huge.
However, I do struggle to see how this technology is scalable beyond PLS. If they own majority of the JV what incentive do they have to sell this technology to any other lithium producer/competitor and give away their competitive advantage of offering green lithium to the market.
