Would you care to elaborate re your reference to PMI's projects being a brownfields resource, please Viennalager? I understand that the Obotan tenament was previously owned and mined by Resolute Mining, but how does that automatically negate PMI's chart pattern from any correlation to the "mining stock lifecycle" to which I refer?
The way I interpret the recent slump in context of that illustrated lifecycle is this: once the discovery is made (and the numbers crunched), the speculation is no longer... the speculators bail out and go elsewhere. Bit like the "buy the rumour and sell the fact". Everyone already knew that PMI had 4.3 million tonne and when it didn't add to that figure, no one wanted to stick around. They were off to more exciting stocks.
I hope you are right, VL, that PMI does not fit the "pretty mining stock lifecycle". It's not exactly a thrilling prospect to have to wait years before the shareprice recovers while PMI goes through the "orphan years" of feasibility, development and production startup stages before the instos come aboard.
Your post, VL, does not explain why such a retreat occured nor why a strategy for exiting was warranted. I value anyone's contribution or opinion on that.
The reason I got on board the stock was because of the fundamentals... which at that time gave no indication that the shareprice had a reason to retreat. In fact, with the upcoming announcement due, I used each dip in the shareprice as a reason to buy (not sell). At what point in the sp retreat, would you have sold, VL? It is very difficult to sell when you have only just got on board what everyone considers an "under-valued stock".
Hindsight is a marvelous thing in stock trading. There are a dozen "what I should have done" statements that race through my head every day since it fell below $1. And, at that point, everyone (on HC) thought the reaction to the Progress Report was an over-reaction and that the shareprice would be back over a dollar within a matter of days. And, here we are, still under 90c.
Anyway, I think you will get the gist of what I am saying,VL. Appreciate any future comments you may wish to share. Cheers.
