Looks like there is some competition out there for the shingles relief market. I came across this recruitment advert while reading some news on the mobile phone.

This is a lidocaine based gel for shingles pain and not it appears for post herpetic neuralgia as in the POH trial.
The website information does make a distinction between its treatment and a patch treatment as follows.
"Because the investigational gel is applied directly to the skin – without a patch – researchers believe it has the potential to be a flexible and convenient treatment option for people to use in the future".
Come on POH (or Alyptus or whatever) get a wriggle on and get something happening or other trials and technologies may beat you to it!
