Many of the start up investee companies would not relish having hundreds of small investors, nor would many of PVLs shareholders relish having tiny parcels in opaque illiquid startups.

Some of these startups can operate with simplified reporting rules etc provided they have less than I think it is 20 shareholders.

This remains a basket case, but things can still be made worse, eg by such suggested action.

I agree with all of your comments, except for the statement that this "remains a basket case". I think it was a basket case pre-Kruger et. al. taking the reins as management, reducing cash burn and investing in later-stage VC companies with a clear line of sight to re-rates.
