There's currently about 140M short at the moment or 8.5% of total issued shares. That's quite a substantial amount and I'm fairly certain that rather than buy back during a run, they'll continue to short in an attempt to take the momentum out. I'm also expecting a substantial amount shorted. Perhaps even as high as 20% of all traded volume.
In the end though, you can't help but feel we will be trading at much higher prices in several months.
