I have seen this type of churn on other stocks and think that it can be due to people or funds locking in capital losses. Very often if it is a fund they transfer from one account to another and so have no actual change in holding. Obviously if you repurchase you have to be careful that the tax office cannot consider it a "wash sale" ie where the purpose of the sale was just to crystallise a capital loss.
People have all sorts of reasons to sell, in the big scheme of things it is immaterial, it just gives us the opportunity to pick up some more at a lower price.
