whilst it’s important to understand the science, i still don’t know why you are holding? Perhaps a part of you has a glimmer of hope?
I attended ESMO this year. I sat in many sessions listening to clinical trial outcomes for many tumour streams and some of my key take home points included: Quality of Life is not only important to the MO community but also to patients, as well as minimising side effects with the advance of new molecules and treatments and not to mention reduction in interruption to treatment as a consequence of side effects.
the reason why this company started the trial was to demonstrate safety not clinical superiority (let alone non inferiority) as per the request of the relevant authorities
yo date, they have demonstrated that safety is within acceptable realm, that patients have also reported pain reduction [a tick on QOL] and the Forrest plot in the report was the right side of the line.... Do we need ongoing vigilance? Absolutely ...do we need clinical trials? Of course
Did I sell Sirtex when the shares dropped to less than $15 after being in the mid $30’s? Nope, I bought more [and held until the takeover)
even if the OS data is the same, some patients like to have the choice on type of treatment. If one resulted in pain reduction more than the other, but with a similar OS/PFS, which do you think a patient would choose?
Perhaps I’m looking at this differently or with a biased viewpoint, but this is the most promising time they have had in the past few years...
