We don't actually know, the study doesn't clarify what "indications of toxicity" mean, nor do we know what happened Day 5 and onwards. They only explicitly say "no mortalities" for Day 1-4. I take it to mean their health started to fail but yes, it would be more correct to say "indications of toxicity" than "started dying" as that was the specific terms in the study.
