Interesting article. I do think ADHD has a faddish element to it though it is a real disease that was underestimated in the past.
It’s interesting how in the state where I live there are lots of psychiatrists who list ADHD as an area of specialty but very few who specialise in Autism diagnosis yet there is a lot of overlap(at least 20% of people with ADHD have autism). Adhd is a fairly straightforward tick the box diagnosis and Autism is a complex time consuming diagnosis. There is a real financial incentive to just focus on the ADHD. I think there may be substantial under diagnosis of comorbid autism/add that is just being diagnosed as adhd.
An early path to commercialisation could potentially be to get funding to screen all people with adhd diagnoses.
I also wonder if Blinklab research forces a recording of a false negative in patient who have combined ADHD/autism but only ADHD as a diagnosis (checking with the company is on my to do list).
I too was underwhelmed with the outcome of the latest trading halt but the rationale is likely “practicing best industry standards “ . I am not reading too much into it.
