Here is a simple proposition of an overall comparison betyween HIV and Covid and HIV latent reserviours and Covid long.

We know that BIT225 has been confirmed to statistically significantly reduce viral blood count in the early stages of infection compared to those treated without BIT225 inconjunction with standard of care ART. Even though we havn't yet seen the full data, we can deduce from general knowledge on the topic that this viral load reduction is caused by the iniability of the virus to replicate normally in the presence of the new viroporin inhibitor.

As such we are hoping that this also significantly reduces the ability of latent reserviours of virus to develop. Yet to be confirmed.

This headline type analysis doesn't include the other mechanisms such as the inflamatory system and relevent responses etc.

Turning to Covid, in the prior animal trials conducted, viral load also was significantly reduced, which lead to quite remarkable animal helath outcomes. If the same outcome is achieved in humans (oustanding data), will this in turn lead to a reduction of long covid,, just as the same question asked in the HIV comparison where latent virus could be reduced/removed.

The obvious assumption required here to obtain improved long term health outcomes in both presentations is that early intervention and success in reducing viral loads will lead to improved long term benefits.

This is the best of our hopes and not an unreasonable expectation. Nothing so far points otherwise.

Even though Long Covid causes are still a 'mystery,' just as latent HIV virus reserviours are the achilles heal of curing HIV, if BIT 225 can indeed significantly reduce viral loads, the obvious assumption of improved long term benefits is only a specific trial away. Naturally, one for each indication.

But in the mean time, early health benefits in both Covid and HIV is quite sufficient even without long term considerations.
