Up until now BIT225 has only been trialled alongside cART. I don't think this is going to change anytime soon, nor does it really matter much.

(Sure, an argument could be made that if 225 was so successful alone then surely it would be more financial etc, but that is an unrealistic proposition presently).

BIT225 is a viroporin inhibitor, a new class of drug in its infantcy. Its mode of action is different from current ART, but of course, complimentary in that it improves patient care.

We could never rule out viroprin imhibitors achieving what you are suggesting, but that will be much further down the track. One issue presently is that no ethics committee would presently allow a stand alone BIT225 trial. It is far too premature for consideration (but I don't have an ethical bone in my body either ).

Not out of the question long term though, but 225 is likely to have evolved itself by then.
