Trying to understand difference between CMO & CSO. Quora states the following but I am not clear. Particularly in terms of alignment thru oppies.
The chief medical officer (CMO) is generally in charge of the company's clinical research arm. While the chief scientific office (CSO) is generally in charge of the drug discovery and development, they generally don't have the clinical expertise to coordinate a clinical trial. That's where the CMO comes in.An alternative way of looking at this is that the CSO would be in charge of the drug development and the non-clinical overview of the filing. The chief operations officer (COO) would probably be in charge of writing the CMC portion of the filing. The CMO would be in charge of the clinical portion of the filing. Generally, the CMO has an MD.
